The joys of this motor car will appear often in the diary from now on.  It was owned by the Grays.  Captain Gray was serving with Herbert at Aldershot, and the two families became firm friends – you will see mention of Mrs Gray throughout the diaries, as she became famous for her hampers sent to the family when they moved abroad.
