Here is Wynne in more formal wear, off to town. Note the gloves, the high throated blouse, and the sensible suit – as you will see from the later pages, Wynne was not a great fan of the very elaborate late Edwardian clothing, though she did occasionally allow herself to dream about one or two items…here she is setting off for London with Eleanore, about to get into their brougham…

 

But as you can see below, a call involved arriving in some style – again, note the woman’s gloves, and the men’s high collars. Also, none of the men would have had a wristwatch, but instead would have had a hunter, or pocket watch, attached to the chain you can see on Herbert’s waistcoat.
