This is the card sent by Wynne’s brother, Elliot, to wish the family a Happy Christmas. Note it is passed by the Censor, Base EEF, and has a Shepheards Hotel stamp on it, so it must have been posted there. This was a famous meeting place in Cairo, much used by expats. He has written “On Active Service” across the top – hence the lack of a postage stamp.

I wonder what became of these soldiers? So many came over to Europe, suffered terribly from the conditions, and did not really receive adequate recognition for their sacrifices…
