Willie writes on the back of the card:

Dear Madam
Just a few lines to let you know that I am now on leave after 3 years and 4 months abroad. I went and saw some of the old servants that was in your service. Some new (sic) me and others never but when I told them who I was they was very glad to see me back again. From your obedient servant, William. This card came from Belgium.
