The death of her father intervened at this point. George Llewhellin died on June 21st, and in the days that followed Wynne cut out and pasted into the diary the illustrations her mother had added to the letters she wrote to George during their engagement in 1871.
Wynne must have had very mixed emotions, and the little cupid with his letter must have seemed both very sad but rather appropriate to her own condition…
As you can see in the diary entries everywhere else, Wynne’s mother continued the practice whenever she came to stay…
