The Diary in April

“A heart-ache about Spring this year…”

April 1st – 7th

“A joyous month…and yet what a mockery Spring seems.”

April 8th – 21st

“A heart-ache about Spring this year…” but Wynne carries on, her son returns from school, and she is enjoying the redecorated house.

April 22nd – 27th

A funeral for a woman who died of puerperal fever, dinner with an officer in the “New” army, and news of her brother on the way to the Front.

April 28th – 30th

April picnics and excursions, but the War is ever-present: lack of news, and the censorship of it, is beginning to get on Wynne’s nerves.
