The Diary in June

The Battle of Jutland and the loss of Kitchener.

Wynne goes house hunting.

June 1st – 6th

The Battle of Jutland starts the week, and Lord Kitchener’s loss in the Hampshire ends it. Verdun still rages, and the Canadians suffer at Ypres.

June 7th – 15th

House hunting starts in earnest with a trip to Exeter and a stay at the Clarence Hotel for 5/- a night.

June 16th – 19th

More house hunting. Wynne does all of it on a bicycle and the local railways. She travels miles across the hilly West country.

June 20th – 30th

Wynne settle on a house in Hinton St George, and then goes to London to stay with her Mother.
