The Diary in May

The Irish Uprising ends.

Daylight Saving and Conscription start.

May 1st – 5th

The Irish Uprising in Dublin but secondary education for the children is uppermost in Wynne’s mind.

May 6th – 12th

Conscription and Daylight Saving – but domestic duties make Wynne keen to leave Aldershot.

May 13th – 20th

The clocks go back for the first time between May 20th and 21st….Wynne rejoices in the new experiment.

May 21st – 31st

After a visit to the Chelsea Flower show, Wynne receives news her brother is wounded. She now has to wait and pray – something “the women of this generation should know how to do”.
