The Diary in March

The Spring Push

Baghdad is finally taken

The Russian Revolution begins.

March 1st – 8th

Bad weather continues: colds and flu, and a trip to London. The Spring “push” appears to be nearing as hospitals are made ready in Wynne’s area.

March 9th – 15th

Baghdad falls at last – a relief after the disaster of the previous year. Sugar and other necessities are hard to find, and no one dresses for the theatre any more!

March 16th – 22nd

The fall of the Czar electrifies Wynne, who inserts cuttings about it and ponders on the new republic.

March 23rd – 31st

Too cold for gardening…and one of Wynne’s visiting soldiers comments very unfavourably on the countryside.
