War news improves with American and French advance. Wynne remembers the start four years ago.

August 8th – 20th

Endless chores, but the fresh news from the Front continues to be encouraging. The W.I. is now flourishing – lectures on Servia and a vegetable show.

August 21st – 31st

A Luxury Tax has been imposed. News arrives of her friend Philip Lyster’s wedding – as an ex POW he is still restricted to a neutral territory.
