The Diary in January

Life has returned to a sort of normality, with dances and travel,.

The winter cold is extreme this year.

January 1st – 10th

Normal life continues, as does the cold weather. A good dinner at the end of hte wek is accompanied by a notable relaxation of standards!

January 11th – 16th

Various dances, including the Women’s Institute Social for the village – a jolly affair for all.

January 17th – 22nd

The house-party breaks up – for school, and for Win to go to London to try and get a passage to India…after years of separation from her parents.

January 23rd – 31st

The two girls are left at Malvern. Wynne returns to a freezing house.
