She hears from her uncle in Bavaria

A rail strike and frustrations in the move north

September 1st – 12th

A distressing accident while blackberrying causes much hilarity, and a lovely trip to Lyme produces a man from Wynne’s past.

September 15th – 23rd

Blackberrying, millinery classes, and other country pursuits. They all attend the local church for last time as a family, as the children are soon off to school.

September 24th – 30th

The children all go back to school, and then a general Railway Strike starts, causing widespread disruption.
