Butter making problems...

and meeting an interesting neighbour.

May 1st – 9th

An introductory visit to Lady Paget, Sir Augustus Paget’s widow, in Newnham.

The wet weather continues but Wynne manages a woodland afternoon.

May 10th – 17th

Lunch with Lady Paget, and a proper tour of her house.

Slugs and caterpillars blight the garden.

May 19th – 31st

Wynne learns to milk, but has great trouble with her butter making.

Scalding the cream seems to solve the problem.
