August 1st – 9th

City chores, and a comment about the rapid rebuilding going on in Regents Street and elsewhere. Reverend Sheppard at St Martins in the Fields predicts the ministry of women!

August 10th – 16th

Entertaining the family with theatre and cinema visits. Herbert refuses to go to the cinema as he hates films.

August 17th – 26th

A car accident and a trip back to Gloucester to decide what to take abroad. They visit their old home. In London, they gain access to the Black Museum at Scotland Yard.
